Island Lass is a little working boat, often seen around Pettycur Harbour at Kinghorn, on the coast of Fife. Life hasn’t been kind to her. She’s a bit battered and scruffy, but she’s sturdy and she keeps going. I’ve painted her a few times, attracted by the eye-catching black, white and red colour scheme.
This time I’ve shown her tied up to the pier. I eliminated other boats on either side, and treated the water surface very simply, all to give pride of place to Island Lass herself.
Unframed watercolour painting. Size 8.5 x 11.8 inches / 21.5 x 30 centimetres.
